This policy brief contains "The Policy of the French Government, Pôle de compétitivité" written in Korean. The French government has currently adopted the policy of "Pôle de compétitivité," which is similar with the innovative urban system of Korea. The "Pôle de compétitivité" refers to that firms, educational institutions, and research institutes cooperatively perform joint projects in a specific area.

The Ministerial Council for National Territorial Development of France decided to promote the policy of "Pôle de compétitivité" in September, 2004. Over one hundred of firms, educational institutions, and research institutes made applications to participate in this policy project as of February, 2005. The Ministerial Council for National Territorial Development of France is planned to declare the final list of 15 candidates for the first half of this year.

The policy of "Pôle de compétitivité" of France is expected to give implications for Korea, which is at present promoting the innovative urban system, in terms of supports, partnership establishment, governance system, and so on.
