KRIHS and World Bank Co-organize Capacity Building Program for Bangladesh

The Global Development Partnership Center (GDPC) of KRIHS organized the second Municipal Capacity Building Program (MCBP) for Bangladesh together with the World Bank group, on July 27, at KRIHS. Sixteen public officers from Bangladesh with four consultants from the World Bank visited KRIHS and shared Korea’s knowledge and experience in regional development, urban regeneration, conservation of cultural heritage and municipal finance management.
This five day program jointly organized by KRIHS and the World Bank group consisted of took lectures on a variety of subjects including national and regional development, municipal finance management and environmental infrastructure, workshops and discussions and site visits to relevant institutions and facilities including the Incheon Free Economic Zone, Gangnam Resource Recovery Facility in Seoul and Han River Flood Control Office.
At the opening ceremony, KRIHS President Kim Dongju welcomed the delegation and hoped this program would bean opportunity to strengthen the collaboration between the two parties. Ms. Shamima Ferdous of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Developemtn and Cooperatives (LGRD&C) replied Korea’s development experience would provide policy solutions for enhancing the capacity of municipalities in Bangladesh. An introduction about GDPC, the organizer, and Korea-WB Partnership Facility: Municipal Capacity Building Pilot Initiative that plans collaboration of the Bank and Korea for 3 years.
GDPC designed the program particularly aiming at delivering an exchange of essential knowledge and experience of Korea with Bangladesh, not only through lectures and discussions, but also through on-the-job training and municipal twinning between two countries.
