About: Policy consultation on the development of Hong River banks―a section between Thang Long Bridge and Long Bien Bridge
Date: April 14 – 17, 2015
The Infrastructure Research Division of KRIHS organized a KSP project, titled “Urban Planning Development Strategies for the Hong River Banks in Hanoi,” from April 14 to 17 at KRIHS. The program was designed for Vietnamese policy makers and other interested parties working on urban planning for Hanoi, and ten participants including General Director Le Vinh of Hanoi Urban Planning Institute joined the program.
As part of policy consultation, the program consisted of lectures, site visits, and discussions.
The lectures in the program included: “Han River Renaissance Project” given by Dr. Bahk Hyunchan of the Soule Institute; “New urban regeneration policy in Seoul” by Dr. Jang Namjong; and “New towns of Korea” by Mr. Hwang Keehyun at Korea Land and Housing Corporation.
Participants also looked and learned Korea’s new town development through site visits to Seoul Digital Media City, Incheon Free Economic Zone Exibition Center, Songdo Central Park, Seonyudo Park, and Gwanggyo and Pangyo new towns.
In the final discussion, KRIHS fellow Chung Jinkyu, who led the program as the project manager, presented the achievements of the program and asked the Vietnamese participants’ feedback and opinions on the program. KRIHS wrapped up the program expecting to consolidate cooperative relations between the two parties in the future.
