2017 KRIHS-ADB Workshop on Sustainable Urban Infrastructure: Sharing Korean Experiences

  The Global Development Partnership Center(GDPC) at the Korean Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) held the ‘2017 KRIHS-ADB Workshop on Sustainable Urban Infrastructure : Sharing Korean Experiences’ from September 4 (Mon) to 7 (Thu) at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel Namdaemun in Seoul. The participants are 15 government officials from 7 Asian countries including Azerbaijan, Laos, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Sri Lanka and Philippines and 2 ADB staffs. The aim of this joint workshop is to share knowledge and experiences in the field of urban infrastructure, urban disaster management and smart cities and to discuss how to apply them to each participant's country.

  In the opening ceremony, Dongju Kim, the President of KRIHS stressed the importance of urban management and mutual cooperation to share knowledge for sustainable development, which is able to be utilized for policy development and management. In addition, he encouraged participating countries and ADB to make following projects by sharing experiences and developing policy consultation under this program. The senior urban development specialist in ADB, Joris van Etten introduced major projects in the ADB urban development sector and suggested active participation of each country.

  This program includes lectures, discussions and relevant field trips for sharing a variety of experiences and exploring future collaborations among Asian countries including Korea and ADB. Also it is expected that this workshop would become a good opportunity for each countries and ADB to develop strong relationship and continuous cooperation for the future.
